Hormone Replacement for Men and Woman

Feel your BEST at every age!

Should I use Hormone Replacement Therapy, and what kind and type is best?

This is a question that we often receive, and one for which there are “as many correct answers as patients”. We work together with our patients and their physicians to provide a customized medication that will meet your specific needs. We consider the properties of the drug; the patient’s lifestyle and personal preferences in order to decide which dosage and type will optimize ease of use and provide the maximal benefit.

Medications can be compounded as an oral sustained-release capsule, a cream, pure chemicals, and topical prescriptions for localized effect.

Symptoms can be relieved by achieving the proper balance of hormones that is required for all body systems to function in harmony.  Many options are now available for women and men who want to achieve and maintain optimal health.  Proper nutrition, suitable exercise and appropriate supplementation are all very important components of “wellness” – total physical and mental well-being.

for women

Throughout a woman’s lifetime…..

She may encounter numerous hormone-related symptoms or problems

  • Dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation)
  • Mood Swings Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS)
  • Infertility
  • Endometriosis
  • Fibrocystic breasts
  • Premenopausal symptoms
  • Weight gain
  • Low Libido
  • Heart Disease
  • Osteoporosis

Natural HRT Hormone Replacement Therapy needs to be carefully initiated after a woman’s personal history, family history, and current medical situation are reviewed with her physician. Because hormones have many functions throughout the body, the selection of hormone(s), dose and dosage form should be specific to each patient. Every woman is unique and will respond to therapy in her own way, therefore close monitoring is important to be sure that proper dosage adjustments are made, and unnecessary side effects are avoided.

Alternatives to traditional hormone replacement therapy include the use of natural hormones which are identical to those naturally produced by the female body. Synthetic hormones and hormones derived from animal sources may also be used to produce optimal health.

for men

Restoring men’s health & vitality after age 40......

Men’s testosterone levels slowly decline & are strongly associated with

  • Diminished sex drive and sense of vitality
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Depression
  • Anemia
  • Heart disease or worsening lipid profile
  • Reduced muscle mass and bone density
  • Increased fat mass
  • Frailty
  • Osteoporosis

These symptoms not only affect the man but also his wife, children, friends and anyone else associated with him.   Appropriate therapy can relieve or partially reverse the progression of these problems in testosterone-deficient men.  Testosterone levels can be measured by saliva or blood tests, and hormone therapy is recommended for men with symptoms of low testosterone levels or high estrogen levels.
By administering testosterone transdermally (through the skin) in a cream or gel, adequate amounts of testosterone can be absorbed to mimic the normal daily production. Testosterone can also be administered as a sublingual drop or a lozenge that dissolves in the mouth. Compounded preparations can be very advantageous because customized therapies increase compliance.
Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) has relieved symptoms and improved the quality of life for many men. TRT is well tolerated. Patients should be monitored frequently so that any necessary adjustments can be made.
